Goodbye, January!

Hello, friends!
It's been a busy and eventful month! I've been working on finalizing several pieces, including a portrait of my niece for her 7th birthday. My first human portrait and wow, it was fun! I had previously tried doing mini self-portraits, but for some reason they never looked how I envisioned. Probably because the level of detail I wanted was unachievable due to my current skill. However, I was able to achieve it with a much larger portrait painting. I am most excited to see my niece's reaction to a painting of her. She has said she wants to be a painter like me and that means so much to me.

One piece I finally finalized was "Rulers of the Prairie". I was so excited to have this painting hanging in the gallery. I wanted to have something 'North Dakota' related and a herd of American Bison and a soaring bald eagle seemed just the thing. The final result turned out better than I could have imagined. I love when the picture in my mind becomes reality.

I'm often switching out the art I have displayed at Gallery 4 Downtown Fargo, ND. I've recently been loving the style of a circle canvas and adding lots of texture and related colors, like the two displayed below on a shelf in the supporting artist room. Contact Gallery 4 for purchase questions if you're not able to make it in person!

These two cutie kitties are commissioned pieces for my cousin. It was a great technique learning opportunity and I enjoyed the creation process!

Another commissioned piece was this white-tailed buck painted for my dad. This particular buck was a harvest that eventually turned into a mount on the lake cabin living room wall. This was painted on a 2-inch slab of maple my dad felled himself.
I've been having so much fun with painting lately that it's very hard to work full time. I often think about what I should paint next and it makes me excited to start a new project. I have to remind myself not to take too many things on at the same time or I will lose the motivation. I'm practicing everyday so that maybe one day I can be a 'multiple-projects-going-at-the-same-time' gal.
Thanks for taking the time to read this email and for supporting me in anyway you can. I love what I do and I love sharing it more!
